Leppington High School Student Leadership Co-Design Days
Selected Year 6 students from Leppington Public School and Denham Court Public School recently participated in a series of Student Leadership and Voice Workshops, providing authentic student voice, ideas and perspectives to help shape the future culture of Leppington High School, which is set to open in 2027.
As the inaugural Year 7 cohort, these students will play a unique role in establishing the traditions, culture and identity of the new school. Their insights and experiences have been invaluable in informing the school's vision, values and student leadership structures.
Day 1 focused on exploring the values and beliefs that will underpin the school community. Students participated in collaborative brainstorming activities, investigated the learning dispositions they believe are important for success, and began providing feedback on the school's wellbeing framework.
Day 2 built on this work, with students receiving updates on the progress of Leppington High School's development and planning. They also shared and analysed the student leadership structures from their own primary schools before working collaboratively to design a student leadership framework that could be implemented when Leppington High School opens in 2027.
The enthusiasm, creativity and thoughtful contributions demonstrated by our students throughout both workshops have highlighted the importance of student voice in creating a school where every student feels connected, valued and empowered to lead.
